Good evening Class of 2020 families,

 

I wanted to begin tonight by congratulating the Pinecrest Class of 2020 Valedictorian Ms. Isabella King. 

Graduation will be held on Saturday June 6th as a drive up walk the stage ceremony.  The ceremony will be divided into 3 sessions.  You must come to your assigned session only.  You will not be allowed into other sessions due to restrictions.  You must enter the campus from Felton Capel Rd or Knoll Rd through the traffic circle and follow the traffic pattern.Please refer to the message from last week regarding the additional guidelines for the Walk the Stage ceremonies (attached to the email). We will livestream the ceremony at https://livestream.com/ncmcs/pchs. Additionally, parents and other visitors in their vehicles will be able to hear the ceremony at FM 87.9.

  • Session 1 at  8 am will include last names Abdul-Gulovich

    • arrival time for this session is 7:15 am

  • Session 2 at 10 am will include last names Gunther-R.Miller

    • arrival time for this session is 9:15am

  • Session 3 at 2pm will include last names Milstead-Zimmerman

    • arrival time for this session is 1:15pm

For the parade, which will start at 10 am on Friday June 5th, we are asking that all seniors follow the route below:

  1. Enter on Felton Capel Ln.

  2. At traffic circle exit onto Voit Gilmore Ln. to the football stadium entrance

  3. Move down Patriot Way (road between student parking lot & building3) and around the auditorium parking lot

  4. Turn right onto Voit Gilmore Ln and head back to Morganton Road

  5. At the stoplight on Morganton Road take a left

  6. Students will go their separate ways once they reach the US-1 overpass

Seniors should wear their cap & gown, decorate their vehicles and have their name clearly printed on the side of their vehicle. We will announce your name as you pass by the stage. Your Pinecrest faculty and staff will be lining Patriot Way. Additional dignitaries will be beside the stage in the auditorium lot.  The student parking lot will be open so spectators can park facing the parade route (both school and street side).

Additionally, the night of June 5th we will be releasing a prerecorded graduation on the Moore County School Youtube Channel. 

Finally, the yearbooks will be shipped soon. We are setting a tentative date of May 29th for seniors ONLY to pick up yearbooks and honor chords and to turn in chromebooks and textbooks. Also, you can turn in chromebooks and library books on the 26th and 28th from 11am-1pm.

Good evening,

A couple of items for all students and then I will end with graduation parade and ceremony details. Please know this information can be found on the homepage of our website. If you scroll to the bottom you will find a graduation icon and a weekly message icon.

Mrs. Martin will be giving out and selling yearbooks on Thursday and Friday from 1-3 out in front of the school. There are only about 40 yearbooks left.  Bring $80 and you can claim yours!

If you still have textbooks return them to the school Monday-Friday from 8-4. Seniors we need your textbooks and chromebooks returned by Friday at 4pm. Our front office will be closed on Friday from 9-until the parade has concluded.

Graduation Parade and Drive-In Ceremony Details

Friday June 5th at 10 am – Parade

Friday June 5th we will honor the Class of 2020 with a parade.  Students should wear their cap & gown and decorate their cars.  Students will enter on Felton Capel Lane and go around the traffic circle to Voit Gilmore Lane and then enter the campus at the stadium entrance.  Do not enter from 15-501.The parade will continue down Patriot Way passing PHS faculty and staff and other dignitaries. The parade route will circle around the auditorium parking lot where you will pass the graduation stage. We encourage you to pause for a moment and take a selfie with the the stage behind you. If the senior's name is posted on the vehicle then it will be read at that time. You will exit the auditorium parking lot and turn right onto Voit Gilmore Lane and take the traffic circle down Felton Capel Lane.  We ask that you turn left on Morganton Road.

Parents and other spectators can line Voit Gilmore and Felton Capel Lanes. The upper student parking lot will be unlocked. Parents and other spectators can line the perimeter of that parking lot. We are asking all spectators to remain in or at their cars. Do not come down Patriot Way. Additional areas to view our students will be on Morganton Road.

Friday June 5th at 7pm – Prerecorded Graduation

Released on the MCS YouTube Channel found here. The link will go live at 7pm. We will make sure it is posted on social media and on our school website.

Saturday June 6th at 8am, 10am and 2pm – Drive-In Graduation – R.E. Lee Auditorium Parking Lot

We are asking parents to remain in the vehicle at all times.

It will be the student's decision on if they want to wear a mask.

A staff member will go to each car and tell the senior when it is time to get in the lineup.

The senior will print their full name on a card to hand to Mr. Hanson for him to read as they enter the stage. We will hand out index cards but please make sure to bring a pen.

Ms. Phillips will congratulate the senior (no handshakes). Then the senior will pick up their diploma cover and take a picture. You will receive an email from the company about how to purchase pictures the week following the ceremony.

The senior will exit the stage and go to a tent to pick up their diploma packet and special edition of The Pilot.

All seniors will remain at the session until the last name is called for, that session, and tassels are turned. Then staff will direct the exiting of vehicles.

The campus is closed throughout the day so there will not be a chance for photos during the ceremony times. After 4pm seniors can come back through Patriot Way to pick up their senior picture on the hill. The pictures will remain until Wednesday of the following week. At that time they will be placed in the office for pickup.

If a senior chooses not to participate then they can pick up their diploma the following week Monday-Friday between 8am-4pm at the front office.

Good evening seniors!

Graduation dress code is as follows:

Dresses should not be visible under the robe. Dress shoes must be worn. No tennis shoes or flip flops.
Long pants, dress collared shirt (button down), tie, dress shoes and socks are required. No tennis shoes, jeans or shorts.
Proper wear of cap and gown adds dignity to the ceremony commemorating a period of scholastic achievement. The following guidelines should be followed:
Mortarboards should not have any writing, decorations, or symbols on them.
Caps should be placed on the head so that the mortarboard is level. Put your cap on well forward with the short point almost between the eyebrows.
The tassel is worn over the right temple. Tassels should never be pinned or sewn but permitted to hang naturally.
Gold PHS stoles must be worn over the gown.
Do not chew gum while in the cap and gown.
Please turn OFF your cell phones or set them to silent while you are wearing your cap and gown. Be courteous and mindful of others at all times.
Please remember that no pictures will be allowed on campus Saturday.

Seniors may pick up their graduation signs from in front of the school as soon as Saturday. However, please allow your picture to remain on campus for the three graduation sessions.

Remember only one car per graduate for your assigned session.  The graduate must be in the car dressed in cap and gown in order to enter the session.

Parade details: Please enter from Felton Capel Road and follow the traffic pattern down Patriot way. Your Pinecrest faculty and staff, along with other dignitaries, will be here to celebrate you! Parents can line the perimeter of the student parking lot and Voit Gilmore Lane. Additionally parents can line Felton Capel Lane. Students will be turning left at the stoplight on Morganton Road.

Please continue to come down Patriot Way to see the senior portraits. We will continue to send out reminders throughout the week.
